The country's energy safety and self-sufficiency, regional economic development

The project to build new units at Dukovany is one of the largest investments in the history of the Czech Republic. It will ensure a sufficient supply of stable, affordable, and clean energy for local residents, businesses, hospitals, schools, government offices—in short, for everyone. It is a massive economic boost that will create new jobs, generate contracts for Czech companies, and open up new business opportunities. For the regions, this represents an opportunity for development and growth.

  • Environment

Electricity from nuclear power plants is low-emission and helps protect the climate. The units take up little space, but they produce efficiently regardless of the weather.

  • Employment

The construction means thousands of jobs. Once operational, the facility will directly employ approximately 1,500 people and provide jobs for thousands more in related services.

  • Economic growth

The construction will increase GDP and gross value added, as well as tax revenues for both the state and municipalities. An investment of CZK 1 will generate up to CZK 3.27 through the multiplier effect.

  • Education

The power plant is particularly looking for secondary school and university graduates with a technical background. Schools in the region can offer specialized courses.

  • Region

Stable, well-paid jobs will help stem the exodus of young people from the region and attract new families. The construction is linked to improvements in transportation infrastructure and the overall development of services and business in the region.

  • Industry and technology

This project is a huge opportunity for Czech companies. Their share of the contract may be as high as 60%.

  • Czech energy sector

The Czech Republic wants to continue developing nuclear power. The new units will help ensure energy safety and self-sufficiency for the country. They will be a source of stable and affordable electricity.

  • Know-how

Czech nuclear know-how (industry, education, regulatory environment, research) will gain additional knowledge that it can then commercially apply abroad.
