A strong partner
The contractor for the two new units at the Dukovany site is the South Korean company Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP). In a highly competitive international tender, its APR1000 project was selected as the most suitable. In June 2025, a contract was signed with KHNP covering the entire turnkey construction process, including fuel supply.
A strong player
The largest electricity producer in South Korea. It operates tens of power plants: nuclear, hydroelectric, wind, and solar. It has over 7,500 engineering staff.
Nuclear know-how
KHNP has built 36 nuclear units to date, both domestically and abroad, and is currently constructing 4 more. It has been continuously involved in the construction of nuclear facilities for over half a century.
Trustworthiness
A leading state-owned company that prides itself on innovative solutions, cutting-edge technologies, and the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Turnkey Contract
KHNP will supply the new units under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract, which is essentially a turnkey delivery. A single main contractor handles the entire project—from detailed design through the procurement or manufacture of equipment and technology to construction work and commissioning.
Under an agreement with the Czech government and Elektrárna Dukovany II, KHNP aims to involve as many Czech companies as possible in the project. Their share could account for more than half of all deliveries.
